• Tukino offers a 340m vertical drop and 170 hectares of skiable area
• Terrain: 35% beginner, 30% intermediate and 35% advanced
• Lift facilities include 3 nutcracker tows (totalling 280m) and a 'cat-ski' option (more info below)

• Tukino does not offer rentals, so come and see us for that :)

Ski Rentals for Tukino, Mt Ruapehu

Where can you rent hire skis for Tukino? For the 2023 season, there will be NO on-mountain rentals available. This means you will need to hire gear off-mountain at one of the many local ski shops in the area

We recommend us! Great prices, great gear and quick service. There are ski rental options if you are staying in Ohakune, but for the northern towns we would love to fit you out with the proper gear for the day!

Lessons

Tukino offers ski lessons from qualified instructors to hone in your ski ability and skills. Ski lessons are available 7 days a week, bookings essential. Please read this article for further details

Weather Conditions

All weather on Mt Ruapehu can change very quickly, and although Tukino is on the more sheltered side of Ruapehu - be prepared with all the gear so you are good for any situation. Even on a hot, spring day conditions can change relatively quickly. The best way to be prepared is study THIS LIST, and have accurate weather predictions - find them here. 

Getting there, and restrictions

Tukino is only accessible with a 4WD vehicle. Make sure you check their website for the latest road information before you travel. If you don't have a 4WD car, Tukino offer's a excellent shuttle service. 

Shuttle and transport options

NOTE FOR 2023: We are unsure if this service is available in 2023
Tukino shuttle: This is a on-demand service run by Tukino themselves. Simply call 06 387 6294 once you depart either Turangi or Waiouru and they will meet you at the base of the Tukino mountain access road to pick you up.

• This field is a excellent option all season round - but especially for the weekends and holidays due to the fewer crowds.

 Our favorite runs:

• Cat Skiing:A very unique skiing opportunity. Take a ride on a purpose built snow groomer to the very top of the Tukino ski boundary - and then shred all the way back down to base. There are plenty of different return routes to explore, and will leave you wanting more! Please note cat-skiing is a optional extra to your day-pass at $40 per trip.
